The
Candidates
The candidates below have taken the following pledge:
“I pledge to carry forward, as my own, the platform this movement built: healthcare as a right, affordable housing, an economy that works for people not billionaires, strong worker protections, an end to forever wars, human rights for all, and real climate accountability.”
Candidates are invited to a People Powered Maine’s Candidate Forum to discuss how their values and policies align with this platform. Learn more about the Candidate Forums
The Candidates
Troy has been an advocate for the working class for his entire political career. He’s proud of his family history as a logger, and speaks from personal experience about the indignity and powerlessness of poverty, as well as the ways in which we can take on powerful interests if we stand together in solidarity. Troy has been candid about areas in which he’s evolved and grown; doesn’t hesitate to call Israel’s actions in Gaza genocide; and he would like to freeze additional military spending until we radically increase our domestic social spending.
Troy Jackson was an early adopter of People Powered Maine’s Seven Principles. In speaking to our organizers, Troy highlighted his commitment to collaborate on grassroots groups in Maine: "we still have a chance to get the things that we deserve, the government that we deserve, and I'm not asking people to stand behind me, I'm asking people to stand shoulder to shoulder with me so we can get what we all want." While he came to be Maine’s Democratic candidate for US Senate under challenging circumstances for Maine organizers, many of our members are confident in Troy’s skills as a coalition builder and his commitment to representing regular working Mainers and not big ticket donors.
